Tony Hawk's skating games have been well known, and they all started from this one game.  The series have been celebrated not only because it stars Tony Hawk, but since it features many other pro skaters.

For the first in the series, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater has great graphics.  They may be in 16-bit, but they are very well detailed.  When I skate around on the game, it doesn't feel unrealistic.  The game shows a large amount of realism.  Even though there are some minor glitches such as not getting points for doing a wall ride, the game shows much effort in making it realistic.  Sometimes the details in the levels help you top off some very major combinations.  This means that added details such as rails, ramps and others can help you score more.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater features one of the best soundtrack around.  It features songs that are actually worth listening to.  They aren't rips and they don't bore people.  Basically, the music is a good way to keep alive while playing the game, instead of being bored.  The volume levels can be changed also if the music gets annoying.  Furthermore, some songs can be skipped.  The songs featured in the game vary from pop to rock; then to rap.  This enables many videogamers to enjoy their music, and as well skip the songs they don't enjoy.

The gameplay in the Tony Hawk games is the chief reason the games are so popular.  There is such a variety of trick to choose from, each giving a variety of points.  Each trick button has about eight tricks, totaling to about 50 tricks to use.  Also, some tricks are tougher to do than others, varying upon how many buttons have to be pressed.  All tricks are not done in the same areas.  Some can be taken off quarterpipes and halfpipes.  Whereas others can be done on rails.  The most basic tricks are done just off land, by doing an ollie.

This videogame is one of the most durable ever.  Surely, it can be beat by using one skater in a day.  Still, there are so many available characters that the game can be beaten over and over.  The best thing is that only one file is needed for the whole game!

Therefore, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater is one of the best prequels around, and the game deserves a wonderful applause.
